In the spirit of Ramadan 2021, Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk has partnered with the UAE Food Bank for a 1000-meal project to help eliminate food waste and turn short-shelved life products into wholesome iftar meals for the less fortunate.
Held at the Sofitel flagship property, the French-Egyptian inspired luxe hotel brings in notable suppliers, including Barakat, Simply Gourmet, Safco, Classic Fine Foods, No onions, Fresh Catch and Transmed who graciously offered short-shelved life products to transform into nutritious and tasteful meals for those in need for Iftar. The Neighboring sister hotel, Raffles Dubai, also supported the UAE Food Bank by offering over 300 meals throughout the month of Ramadan and joined forces with the Sofitel team to contribute to the heart-felt cause with volunteers ready to prepare over 1000 meals.
The first of many future partnerships with the UAE Food Bank, the union also marks Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk’s efforts to align Accor’s Planet 21 best practices with the UAE 2021 vision and the national strategies that call for sustainability and food waste reduction. Constantly and consistently aiming for a more efficient tomorrow, the hotel has already implemented several eco-friendly tactics to alter and urge both industry and public perspectives towards an eco-focused future.
