UAE-based Sumo Sushi & Bento has signed a franchise agreement with Apparel Group to open 20 Sumo Sushi & Bento outlets across the GCC region.
Founded by Nilesh Ved, Apparel Group has over 75 global fashion and lifestyle brands in its portfolio and will utilise its relationships in the retail sector to bring the brand to malls throughout the region.

The first restaurant under the agreement is scheduled to open on 1 June at Doha Festival City (Qatar).
Sumo Sushi & Bento specialises in the customised sushi sandwiches, ‘Poke’ Bowls’, salmon lovers bento and other Japanese specialty rolls.
The brand was established in 2000 and today has 12 outlets throughout the UAE and four in Bahrain and Oman.
Having begun with just 10 team members, the company now employs 140 staff and 500 in its franchises.
It has grown from a family-friendly Japanese restaurant to the fastest growing Japanese franchise in the UAE.
