Chef Peter Gordon to host event series at Jones the Grocer

Chef, restaurateur and writer, Peter Gordon is coming to the UAE this September to host a series of gastronomic events at Jones the Grocer.

During his visit, chef Gordon will prepare two exclusive four-course meals in Jones kitchen, and will offer a cooking demonstration of three dishes from his latest recipe collection.

He will also host a masterclass where he will be working hands-on with attendees to prepare two different dishes from his new book, Savour: Salads for all Seasons’.

A special menu from the new book, created exclusively for Jones the Grocer will be on offer throughout eight Jones locations in the UAE and Qatar.

Chef Gordon has two restaurants, Bellota and The Sugar Club, in Auckland, New Zealand, and two in London, The Providores/ Tapa Room and Kopapaand.

He has written eight cook books, the most recent being ‘Savour: Salads for all Seasons’ which will be on offer exclusively at Jones the Grocer.

Originally from Whanganui, New Zealand, Gordon has been a chef for more than 35 years and is passionate about culinary diversity and fusion cuisine.

Jones the grocer is a contemporary café with a range of specialty retail products, a signature walk-in cheese room, charcuterie and deli.

Established in 1996 with the launch of the flagship Australian store in Woollahra, Sydney, Jones the grocer has now has 19 stores across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Qatar, Bahrain and the UAE.

Four-course meal prepared with Peter Gordon in Jones kitchen

Dates and locations: Wednesday 21 September, Jones the Grocer Al Manara, Dubai; Friday 23 September, Jones the Grocer Khalidiya, Abu Dhabi.
Price: AED 380 with optional grape pairing for additional AED 150 (subject to licensing restrictions).

Dishes from Peter’s newest cookbook Savour include; crusty baked wasabi mushrooms, spinach, tomato, orange, dill and grated egg; baked ricotta and carrots, figs and smoky almond brittle; seared salmon, nori sauce, crispy buckwheat, gomasio and avocado; cardamon lamb ribs, mango-cashew rice and red onions; pomegranate panna cotta with pear and basil jelly.

Dates and locations: Thursday 22 September, Jones the Grocer Raha, Abu Dhabi.
Price: AED 195 with optional grape pairing for additional AED 100.

Dishes include: baked ricotta and carrots, figs and smoky almond brittle; lamb loin, crispy kale, aubergine, shiitake, mint, yogurt and sumac; pomegranate panna cotta with pear and basil jelly.

 

Hands-on masterclass with Peter Gordon

Dates and locations: Thursday 22 September, Jones the Grocer Khalidiya, Abu Dhabi.
Price: AED 695 with optional grape pairing for additional AED 100.

Instruction on: freekeh, walnut, Swiss chard, mushrooms and tahini mascarpone; seared salmon, nori sauce, crispy buckwheat, gomasio and avocado. The masterclass also includes a signed copy of ‘Savour: Salads for all Seasons’.

 

A special menu created exclusively for Jones the Grocer

Dates and locations: 5 September – 2 October at eight Jones locations in the UAE and Qatar.

This bespoke menu, featuring dishes from Peter’s new cookbook Savour includes dishes such as: millet, roast veggies, Pietro’s egg and pomegranate; creamy chicken, mushroom and parsnip pie; pumpkin, ginger, chickpea and cheese soup; miso-baked aubergine, dates, feta, crispy buckwheat and tahini yoghurt; poached salmon, almond and grapefruit couscous; roast chicken, kumquats, black garlic, kale and avocado; spiced quince and pineapple oat crumble; pear and kiwifruit lassi.

Price: Savour: Salads for all Seasons’ will be available exclusively at all Jones the Grocer stores during the month of September for AED 190.
