Courtyard by Marriott, Dubai Green Community assists locals affected by floods

Following the adverse weather conditions and floods seen in the UAE on 8-9 March, staff at the Courtyard by Marriott Dubai Green Community have been assisting the local community clean up their homes following any damage caused by the rain.  Associates from Courtyard by Marriott Dubai Green Community busy at work assisting the local community to clean up their homes

Staff at the Courtyard by Marriott Dubai Green Community have been fostering their own ‘spirit to serve’ by hand delivering letters to local homes offering assistance, along with a call-out on the hotel’s Facebook page through which those in need can contact staff for help. The initiative led by newly appointed general manager, Anna Collier, has seen a team of 8-10 staff going out into the community daily to help neighbours who, on their own, would struggle to lift heavy furniture and clear water.

Due to the severity of the flooding, the hotel has also suspended all areas of operations including restaurant outlets and outside catering events as they turn their efforts to focus on a robust clean-up plan for the hotel and the community.

Commenting on the clean-up initiative, Collier said: “The hotel has become a central part of the Green Community where locals meet and dine on a regular basis. We have built a close relationship with many families in the community over the years and it deeply saddens us to see them in distress, following the damage caused to their homes by the severe weather. The very least we can do is to offer whatever support we can to assist them with getting back on their feet.”

“Marriott’s ‘spirit to serve’ means a lot to myself and the team. We believe that there is great strength to be gained in numbers, particularly during challenging times so we have formed an associate assistance team to help those struggling to clean-up their homes. As the saying goes, ‘every cloud has a silver lining’ and we look forward to welcoming the local community back to a newly refreshed product and will be keeping in touch on a regular basis with updates of our progress”, she added.

If your Green Community home has been affected and you would like to request assistance, you can do so by calling the hotel on 00.971.4.885.2222 or through Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/courtyardmarriottdubaigreencommunity/.
