Rational has introduced ConnectedCooking, a cloud-based networking system allowing customers to connect their Rational units to a network to view their production processes, with the aim of making kitchen work safer, simpler and more convenient.

To use ConnectedCooking, customers connect one or more Rational units to a network, and then register for free under ConnectedCooking.com. Networking is available for all Rational units.

Simon Parke-Davis, vice president for business development in Middle East commented: “Network integration through ConnectedCooking allows chefs to view all of their production processes at any time, in central facilities and all branch stores, even if they are not personally present.

“They can quickly check up on processes remotely while doing their weekly purchase orders, monitor overnight cooking from home, or even call up error notifications while on the go.

“Users can retrieve all of this information quickly and easily using any computer with internet connection, smartphone or tablet, anytime, anywhere. This service helps us give our customers more flexibility at last, which represents real added value in the catering industry.”

The networked units are displayed and managed through ConnectedCooking’s device management screen.

The system can distribute new cooking programmes, receive push notifications in real time, and transmit preferred unit settings to all connected units.

ConnectedCooking features automatic software updates, and all HACCP data can be captured, documented and exported completely automatically.

The system can also automatically contact service partners and request the correct replacement parts directly for quick on-site troubleshooting.

Separate user profiles with individual permissions settings mean all employees can have system access.

With ConnectedCooking, Club Rational, a database of recipes, is always available in the kitchen. Users can select recipes and transmit the settings to one or more units.

Parke-Davis added: “With ConnectedCooking, we are offering our customers the world’s most cutting-edge networking solution for professional kitchens. Now our customers will always have everything at their fingertips, even when they aren’t on location.

“Chain restaurants and companies with satellite kitchens, in particular, now have an easy, centralised solution for ensuring quality assurance and monitoring unit functions.”

All Rational SelfCookingCenter units come equipped with ethernet interfaces as a standard feature and for the VarioCooking Center units the interface is optional.

Units manufactured before March 2017 can be retrofitted to use ConnectedCooking.

ConnectedCooking is free to use on up to three units. Data is transmitted using encryption technology to prevent misuse.
